If you surround an Orchard with Groves, which you can build using Special Delivery Boxes you will increase the mastery by 900% every time you harvest the Orchard. That means every time you harvest (which you can do daily if you expand your Orchard to a Super Orchard by asking for parts) it is as if you had 9 trees instead of 1. You get one more mastery point for every Grove that is next to an Orchard. When you hover your mouse pointer over the Orchard you should see the percentage increase up to a maximum of 900%.

If you put a 'seed tree' into each grove you can also rotate the tree you're trying to master through the groves as if they were orchards to get extra points... you only get one point per grove, but it adds up.

Thanks for your help Sandy and Karen! Does the grove have to be in a particular position for it to work effectively?

There are several types of groves with unique placement spots. When you look in the Market, you will see how the grove is angled and then you can buy the right one to fit in with your orchard layout. When you build a grove and move it, you will see the placement spots light up so you can fit them next to your orchards. The mastery/coin bonus does not start until after the next harvest so once you place a grove, it's good to leave it there with the orchards surrounding it. :)

Here's a screenshot of different types of groves in the Market. You will place your orchards in the Blue Squares. Hope this helps! :)

Placement of the groves can be tricky, they have to exactly right to work properly. I find them easier to place when they are empty. Also you can only build one of each type at a time.

Also, groves can be stacked to increase the bonuses. I copied the following info from the official guide about groves.

In the beginning, we only had one type of grove (with 2 blue footprint areas). But now we have more grove types. :)

Groves act the same way as Orchards. It stores up to 20 trees and takes 2 days for Groves to be ready to harvest. They also give mystery seedlings and watering cans after each harvest. But there’s more to it….

When you cursor over a completed Grove, 2 blue footprints appear next the Grove. These blue squares are special areas. When you place an Orchard in one of the blue special areas, bonuses will be applied to the trees in the Orchard. These bonuses will increase Tree Mastery Points by 100% and increase Coconut and Coin yields by 15%!

And that’s not all! You can stack multiple blue special areas on top of Orchards to up the percent bonuses. Strategize well and you may be able to increase Mastery Points by 400%. WOW!

Double Mastery statues will double the mastery bonus that Groves give. So if an orchard is in an area with 4 Groves, and you own a Double Mastery Statue on that farm, then you'll get a 800% mastery bonus on harvest!
