Do not play farmtown

This game is nothing more than a spyware depot! I went to yahoo searching for answers on my connection problems and I had a fake webpage and it was trying to install malware posing as a virus scanner! I think this company had only one goal. To be the most popular app on facebook so that they could infect as many PC's as possible. I will not fall victim to these apps schemes anymore. At least zynga is a reputable company.

Dont be REDICULOUS!!! If that is the case than so are all the other games on the internet! Anycase I have an excellent anti virus installed. I've had problems with other games (incl Zynga) but never from FarmTown.

You need to substantiate your argument.... prove it.

Don't spread these kind of rumours around, without proof!

I have all the proof I need- the webpage was a malware page and it tried downloading a fake virus scanner to my computer! What more proof do you need? Of course, you dont HAVE to take my word for it. Why haven't the developers addressed the games connection issues?

Yes, you have malware, no it is not from FarmVille. What browser are you using, what anti-virus software are you running, and what are you using to clean your computer?

Can I suggest you switch to Firefox or Google Chrome for your browser? They are much less vulnerable to those kinds of exploits.

Were I you, I'd be running some specialist anti-malware clients, like the free version of Ad Aware. I also find AVG to be vastly superior to McAfee. It seems to have a larger database of non-virus threats. There's a free or trial version it's worth whipping your hard drive through, just to see if it picks up anything McAfee may have missed.

I think what you're saying is one of those pop ups that says...

''OMG YOU HAVE 1000000 TROJANS DOWNLOAD THIS AND IT WILL PROTECT YOU''

uhm...yeah, when i got those i didnt even know what farmville was. My point is farmville/zynga didnt have to do anything with it.

Oh yeah, when i got the pop up...i was using Norton360

yeah some times you have to be careful where you go on line because they will make pages with what is most popular or people are searching for and make it have trojans.

I second the advice on IE. Not only is it junk with apps (very slow) it is also full of security holes. Use Firefox, Opera, or Chrome.

Officially only IE and FF are supported with apps, but Opera and Chrome usually run pretty well.

I like both and have not had any malware problems. Unfortunately I have not been able to get into Farmville for 3 days!

I don't want to get into a browser war with you...LOL, but if FF is so good, how come it's still freezing going to full screen. Using IE is the only way I can play this game right now!

Yeah true, browser wars are old :D I get the same problem with the full screen in FF. Perhaps it may be more accurate to say some browsers are better in certain areas than others.

But I've tested FF, Opera, and IE across a variety of Zynga apps, and in my experience Opera and FF are significantly quicker and have less problems.

I would put the browser problems down to Zynga or flash, even IE lags and jumps about, and the game, (Farmville) does seem to use a lot of resources.
Hopefully they will sort it out for us soon.
I'll bow to your superior knowledge about browsers ect: In the mean time I'll just use whatever is working...:)

Perhaps people thought, you were over zealous about it, worry not we don't all pick on people...and this should be over and done with, if you felt insulted by me I do apologize.

No, you didn't. You came in here with guns blazing, posting a thread entitled and "Do not play Farmtown" saying "This game is nothing more than a spyware depot!"

First of all, this is FarmVille not Farmtown. Second of all, any number of people (including myself) made calm and helpful suggestions to try to assist you - with no thanks for our time. And finally, if you're going to walk in with the aggressive stance you started out with, you should not be surprised when people respond with hostility.

Coming back at the end to say "you people are rude; all I did was ask a question" when that is clearly not the case doesn't buy you a lot of credibility.

    TheGrowingCropGuy must be computer illiterate..

If u're SEARCHING for answers in YAHOO, it's YAHOO that brought u to a malware page, NOT farmtown. This does NOT prove that by playing FT, it will infect the machine. Get it? You should go to their official forum (Slashkey.com) to find out about ur connection problems.
