What are the best defensive alliance troops for low lvl wars?

I'm new to the game, but not new to the format. I play CoC and Dominations religiously. I'm curious what this forum recommends for defensive alliance troops during a war? I'm thinking spider drones or strikers, or a combo?
My new alliance is 'New Player Adult Alliance' if you want to join us or lend some expert advice!
