Same scam of being a widower, working away from home for 3 months either on a contract or oil rig in the middle of the Ocean. Usually with kids. Are you married? Can we go to Google Hangouts? They have 2 first names...mine were Raymond Clark from Chicago and an oil rig engineer. The second was Robert-Maurice who was a contractor working in Texas but happened to be from my home state. He got the Capital right but didn’t know my city. That was the red flag where I thought the 2 were in cahoots. Then when I came here saw the same stories. I’m too smart for them. I wasn’t buying what they were tying to “sell”. If you notice, they only play women all the time. Robert I would never be able to find on social media. Raymond was IMPOSSIBLE - another red flag. I’ve also had guys just looking for a hook up. Please this is not Tinder or Match

Please beware , I’ve just had the same happen to me , chatting away in game as you do friendly banter then wham , here it goes , my daughter needs an operation , I need 20000 dollars , I’m on a ship and can’t get to her , he’s a widow and kids are with Nanny blagh blagh . He suddenly declares his undying love for you , how good a momma you would be to his girls . If Zynga would let me swear I would. All I want is a game of scrabble. This person is now blocked , wish more could be done other than blocking

Skippy, I get these scammers daily!!! They usually have a number after their name too. I've blocked so many. I'm not kidding when I say daily. I cannot even tell you how many I have blocked.
Be safe and have fun playing

Several years ago I fell victim to a scam on EHarmony, my heart was a little bruised but really nothing more than that and a $50 ITunes card. December 2017 I started getting chat requests from a Nicholas Coleman, he said he was from Wales, UK. He lived in Baton Rouge LA and worked on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. He told me he was an engineer and a private contractor. He said he would be leaving for Turkey the end of February. After about a month of chatting on WWF I relented and gave him my email address and then a few week later I gave him my cell number. At this point I was feeling pretty good about this new person in my life (never thought WWF, would have scammers). A friend at work told me about these scammers in mid January so I decided to play along with this man and see if he was for real. When we talked I would ask him direct questions, his answers were always vague and if I really pressed the issue, the call would drop, (he would hang up). If I called him back it would go to voicemail. FYI, he never answered my calls. He told me he wanted to meet me so I played along and told him to come to where I live, get a hotel and we could go out on dates to get to know each other better. FYI, he had already told me that I was his soulmate and he was head over heels in love with me. Long story short i pressed him on coming for a visit and he said it would have to wait until he returned from his next contract in Turkey

Started this morning user lisacoffman023- used the peacekeeper from Syria bit. English was weird - didn’t understand basic questions. Didn’t understand why I said be safe for being in Syria - like it’s a beach or something! “she” has a 11 year old son from Texas. Wanted me to download Kick or Hangouts. Totally didn’t get my retort about hanging out. At that point - no way. I went ahead and blocked. So glad I found this thread.

Beware of Alexander Hall. Supposed to be a Captain in the US military. He plays with your feelings and wants you to join hangouts. Wife and two kids killed in car accident Block him or ignore his requests. He is a scammer. Found his email address and the picture is different to his one on words

Still happening but they are being trickier. I am suspicious of any player that contacts me about anything but game play.

Please remember when you report them via email to [email protected] to include their username. Even when posting on this Forum because their username is unique to the perpetrator whereas their may be several completely harmless people with the same names like those listed above.

Just had one his "name" is Mark Music or Mark Kelvin - Combat Specialist, widowed 6 years, 7 year old daughter Juliana. Lives in Wisconsin, USA. Been in Army for 9 years and deployed three times - Afghanistan, Syria and Hong Kong. Wife died of lung cancer. Pretty convincing but my gut told me straight away it wasn't right. I am beautiful apparently (pmsl) Broken english off and on, but for the most part very good spelling which surprised me. Wanted to talk elsewhere - hangout app I think, I said fb so I could stalk the fb profile to see if legit. Only talked through messenger - didn't friend. Just letting you know as he was attractive (the poor **** who's profile pic they stole was) so just letting you all know :) Magically stopped talking to me after a few too many questions and then vanished in my scrabble game. Hope it helps someone else ;)

I’ve been playing since 2012. However in the last year or so I’ve also been getting the same story from several guys. Every single one of them has lost a wife and child in a car accident and they are looking for a deeper connection. I have politely told them I am not interested. I’ve noticed that these gentlemen are new to WWW having just joined. I’m getting to the point where I’m getting quite rude and I am declining/resigning game requests. I’ve complained to Zynga but to no avail. All I want to do is play the game when I take a break from my day free from this type of “Harrassment”..

@GirlSpeller I also wish Zynga would do more about this issue! In the mean time there are a few threads on these forums where people post their usernames who are looking for a new match. I have played several of them myself and have never had a problem with the people I meet here. Maybe you will have better luck than playing the randoms met through the game.

I can spot them now before they speak... I just accept the game, and wait for the "hello Dear" And then block their A$$!

I have been getting at least 1 game request a day for the last year. These players are usually new to the game having just joined. Their English is weird. Their story is the same. It’s amazing how so many “military “ men have lost wives leaving them with a child being cared for by a nanny or guardian. The minute they ask my marital status and request to continue chatting on a hangout I politely say I’m not interested. I’ve complained to Zynga requesting that they call me as this is a huge issue where someone will be harmed. Nothing from Zynga. I’ve contacted my local media station in the hopes that they will launch an investigation. Hopefully they are interested.

At this point I am responding rudely to these game requests. I just had to report a player because he would not leave me alone.

I’ve been playing WWW since 2012. There and many , many honest players who I’ve had the good fortune to have been playing with for a couple of years. However then enjoyment of taking a break from my day to play a game is quickly disappearing.

I've written a letter detailing how extensive the problem is, giving many examples from this Forum, and offering some possible steps that could be taken to lessen if not resolve the problem. I only hope my letter was given to someone who can do something about it but seeing how the Moderators of this forum have not been here for several months, I do not feel very confident that anything will change any time soon.

Here's a copy of my letter...

I don't see anything changing any time soon. But it's a daily struggle on my side. Ugh!

I can spot them the minute they say hello dear. I’m keeping a list of names. They all have 2 first names, they’ve only just joined, they are either on oil rigs, or peacekeeping missions in Syria. They are all widowers with kids. Their English is weird. Watch out.

I get these every single day. I’ve been playing for a long time, but these just started in the past few weeks.

I too have noticed a large increase in the number of players unknown to me asking to start a game. They always have a child, age 9 to 16, they are widowed (usually due to cancer or car accident), and they are either an engineer or are in the military. One said he was a 5-star general! They can't spell well, have trouble with English usage, and don't answer pointed questions. It was a bit of fun for a while but lately I've just declined these games. At first I carried on a chat with these people. Lately, within 2 weeks I was getting marriage proposals and assurance that I would have a wonderful life with them. Almost immediately they always want to connect on something called "hangout." Never give a stranger your contact information, such as phone number, email address, or any other way the can reach you.

It's comical, but it's scary to think someone will fall for their lies.

Zynga isn’t really doing anything to combat this. Sad.
