LED street lights are light emitting diode (LED) products that are assembled into a light (or light bulb) for use in a lighting device. Like incandescent lights, and unlike most fluorescent lights (such as tubes and compact fluorescent lights or CFLs), LEDs achieve full brightness without the need for warm-up time, and the life of fluorescent lights can be reduced by frequent opening and closing. The initial cost of LEDs is usually higher. Over time, the degradation of LED dyes and packaging materials will reduce light output to some extent.
Some LED street lights are made directly as a direct replacement for incandescent or fluorescent lights. The LED street light package can display lumen output, power consumption in watts, color temperature in Kelvin or description (eg "warm white"), operating temperature range, and equivalent wattage of incandescent lights are sometimes similar to illuminating output.
